Nintendo has announced that they have made a decision to delay Mario Kart Tour, their next mobile game now scheduled to release in Summer 2019.

That is to allow more time “to improve the quality of the application,” as well as the post-launch support that the kart racer will receive to keep players engaged with it.

It marks the fifth mobile game that the company has released so far, after the now-shelved Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

“In the smart-device business, Mario Kart Tour was scheduled to be released this fiscal year, but in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch, the release date has been moved to summer 2019,” Nintendo reasoned about the decision.

“As we endeavor to develop future planned applications, we will also focus on continued service operations for applications that have already been released so that consumers can enjoy playing them for a long time.”
