Mario Kart 8 Developer Direct confirms 12-player multiplayer


Mario Kart series producer Hideki Konno continues Nintendo’s Developer Direct series alongside E3 2013, discussing the announcement of Mario Kart 8.

He discusses the addition of Anti-Gravity, where your tyres transform so that players can race along walls and the ceiling, and multiplayer enhancements. Players can host tournaments, set rules, and play against others in the community wth up to 12-players racing in each match – either locally or online.

Konno also touched on Mario Kart TV, which will allow players to share short replay clips with friends.

Mario Kart 8 will release exclusively for Wii U in 2014.
