FIFA and Solace have announced that FIFA Heroes will be released for Nintendo Switch in the coming months.
Enver Studio is the developer behind this “fast-paced and dynamic” arcade five-a-side game, in which the world’s greatest footballers will compete against mythological creatures, the official FIFA World Cup mascots and legendary players from the past.
Having looked to provide “cross-generational and global appeal,” all-time Argentina legend Diego Maradona will headline the list of player-characters from yesteryear, with a “glittering roster” of modern-day stars having been plucked from across four continents.
In a new trailer, you can see a match unfold in an authentic Brazilian neighbourhood, where real-life football players are pitched against the likes of Norse god Thor and FIFA World Cup 2026 mascots.
“At FIFA, uniting people through the love of football has always been our priority. With FIFA Heroes, fans can create a multiverse team: mixing their treasured fictional heroes, favourite players, and our own mascots,” explains FIFA director of gaming and esports Christian Volk.
“We’re offering the love of football to a new generation, while rekindling the nostalgia and fun for families and older players who’ve grown up with FIFA. FIFA Heroes fits seamlessly into our digital football portfolio under the FIFAe umbrella, adding another strong pillar to our fast-growing gaming ecosystem.”
Solace director Kyle Joyce adds: “From day one, Solace has worked closely with Enver, the development studio, to create pioneering game development experiences that bring players together. With FIFA Heroes, we set out to capture what actually makes football so compelling: speed, drama, and rivalry. Football has a unique way of bringing people together, and this game is our way of putting that love of the sport into play.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- A fictional stadium located in the barrios of Brazil, the country whose team has lifted the FIFA World Cup a record five times.
- A string of superpowers players will be able to master, from teleporting through balls to meteor shots and magnetic tackles.
- Mythological player characters, including Thor, the Norse god of thunder and lightning, and Sun Wukong, the awesome Monkey King from Chinese mythology, known for his somersault moves and super-human strength.
FIFA Heroes will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, with a release date or window unspecified.
