Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed that Dragon Ball: The Breakers is in development for Nintendo Switch.

Set in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse universe, this asymmetrical online multiplayer game will either let you play as the Raider – one of the franchise’s iconic rivals – or a Survivor – one of seven regular civilians that have no superpowers.

The Raider will have to use its overwhelming power to eliminate the Survivors, who have been caught in a Temporal Seam – trapping them in a place where space and time have fallen into disarray.

They must cooperate with each other to push back the Raider and make their escape using the Super Time Machine, or to use items to try to escape the field strategically.

“In this title, you can enjoy the ultimate escape game between Raider, the Dragon Ball rivals such as Frieza and Cell, and the Survivors, seven ordinary citizens without superpowers. Please experience the excitement between Raider and Survivors, which is only possible with Dragon Ball!” enthuses game producer Ryosuke Hara.

“In addition, this title shares the same universe as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and we are planning to link the two titles via save data in the game. We will continue to operate the game in cooperation with these two titles, so please look forward to it.

“In order to build the game together with you, we will be conducting a closed beta test and we look forward to hearing your honest opinions regarding your gameplay experience. Of course, we will continue to work together with our players to improve the game after its release.

“Dragon Ball: The Breakers is planned for a release on PC and consoles in 2022 at an accessible pricing. But first, we are looking forward to your application for the closed beta test that will be held soon. Thank you for your support of Dragon Ball: The Breakers.”

It’s worth mentioning that the Dragon Ball: The Breakers Closed Beta Test will only be taking place on PC, so don’t expect that to be made available on the portable home console.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2022.
