Nintendo UK has been dealt an unexpected blow after thieves stole “thousands of pounds worth” of the company’s stock as it was being transported across the country.

The theft was made when the lorry was parked overnight, and while the driver was asleep. The incident, which happened between 9pm on 13th April – 7am on 14th April 2016 at the services at Thrapston on the A14, saw the lorry’s side curtain cut which had allowed the thieves to access the stock that it was carrying.

“Anyone with information can contact Northamptonshire police on 101,” a Northamptonshire police spokesperson shared in an appeal for any witnesses to come forward with information. “Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Last year, specialist retailer GAME were left empty-handed when a lorry transporting the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo Special Edition was stolen, which came in the week ahead of the Wii U exclusive’s launch.
