As Pokémon GO dominates the world, Legendary Entertainment has secured the rights to partner with The Pokémon Company to release a live-action Detective Pikachu movie.
This revolves around the concept for Detective Pikachu: Birth Of A New Duo, a Nintendo 3DS exclusive game that has so far only seen release in Japan on the Nintendo eShop.
The global entertainment company most recently produced Warcraft, and, while details surrounding the live-action Pokémon movie are being kept secret, the film will start production in 2017.
Universal Pictures will handle distribution outside of Japan, while Toho will look after distribution across The Pokémon Company’s home country.
It has been reported that Legendary secured the film rights to the Pokémon property in entirety, so we may see more movies beyond this.
