Nintendo has shared its latest Creator’s Voice video, in which Gearbox Software founder and president Randy Pitchford and chief creative officer Randy Varnell discuss bringing Borderlands 4 to Nintendo Switch 2.
“It is so exciting to be able to develop a game for the platform. To have Nintendo Switch 2 in hand while we’re making Borderlands 4 for Nintendo Switch 2 is really exciting,” Pitchford shares. “Usually we’ll have to port a game to a platform, but in this case we’re making Borderlands 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
“And I think that when you play Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll realise that with the cooperative experience and how we can use the Nintendo Switch 2 platform to connect with friends, share our game with friends, it’s pretty astonishing how perfect this platform is for Borderlands 4.”
He later added: “The Nintendo Switch 2 has been a joy to work with. It’s very powerful. It’s an incredible machine in a very tight form factor, and we love being on the bleeding edge with our graphics and the experience that we’re creating. And the Nintendo Switch 2 makes all that possible.
“We don’t feel like we’re fighting the system. We feel like the system’s enabling us and empowering us to make the best version of Borderlands 4 we can. As a game developer, it’s awesome.”
Set on the dangerous planet of Kairos, you will play as one of four new Vault Hunters who seek wealth and glory. Challenged to break free from the oppressive Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator who dominates the masses from on high, a world-altering catastrophe threatens his perfect Order and unleashes mayhem across the planet.
Igniting a resistance, you must blast your way through mechanical monstrosities, bloodthirsty bandits and vicious beasts, amassing an arsenal of death-dealing power and wielding powerful Action Skills to wreak havoc across Kairos.
Whether battling solo or in co-op with up to three other players, you can expect an adventure “packed with free-form combat and exploration, pulse-pounding boss fights, infinitely varied loot drops, and an eclectic cast of unforgettable characters new and old.”
Borderlands 4 will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in 2025.
