Konami has confirmed that Hyper Sports R is no longer in development for Nintendo Switch.

The sports simulation game had been revealed as an exclusive for the portable home console back at E3 2018, but little more had been shared since then.

With a single-player Campaign and a Quick Play mode, you were able to choose from more than 20 characters to compete as in individual and team sports such as track and field, beach volleyball and swimming.

“As of today, we have decided to discontinue development on Hyper Sports R for the Nintendo Switch,” the publisher confirmed in a statement.

“The team had been continually working on the game since its initial reveal in June 2018.
However, after much consideration, we have decided to cancel its development due to various circumstances.

“We deeply apologize to all our valued customers who have been patiently anticipating the release of this game for this significant inconvenience. We hope that you will continually enjoy our products and services.”
