After making his debut in Wii’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl, legendary game designer Hideo Kojima has explained that it is unlikely that Solid Snake will make a return in the upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles.

Although, that isn’t to say that he isn’t less keen for the character’s inclusion. Speaking within a Twitch interview with Geoff Keighley, the Metal Gear creator expressed: “I’m not working on that game, but I don’t think it’s likely. If Mr. Sakurai is watching this, hopefully we see Snake”.

Konami’s gruff-voiced icon had been joined in Brawl by other newcomers, including Pit from Kid Icarus, Pikmin’s Olimar, Wario, and Sonic the Hedgehog. That eagerness for new characters has seen the forthcoming Wii U and 3DS titles secure Little Mac, Rosalina & Luma, Villager, Mega Man, and the Wii Fit Trainer.
