1C Entertainment has confirmed a release date for King’s Bounty II on Nintendo Switch, which has been pushed back from the game’s original March launch window.

“As a team, we had to make the difficult decision to move King’s Bounty II’s release to a later point in 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a King’s Bounty best possible experience,“ explains 1C Entertainment CEO Nikolay Baryshnikov.

King’s Bounty II producer Denis Maltzev adds: “We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, polishing, and postponing launch will give us the precious months to balancing phase, much needed for such important project for us, with its ambitious, open world, its complex narrative, deep turn-based tactical and RPG mechanics.

“Seeing the love and passion you, as our fans, put behind this project, we are grateful for all your support and ask you for a little more patience with us. We’re hoping that this won’t be a long delay and please make sure to keep an eye on our channels to receive all upcoming updates on the game as we get closer to the new release date.“

This tactical turn-based RPG is set in the vast realms of Antara, where a mysterious blight has corrupted the land and those that live there.

Refugees have started to arrive in the kingdom of Nostria, placing a strain on food and resources. Blight-distorted creatures now roam the countryside, leaving chaos and destruction behind. With the land fighting for survival, it is up to you to forge Antara’s future.

Choosing from one of three heroes that each has their own unique story, you will set out on “a non-linear, open-world adventure” across a fantasy landscape.

Your time will be split between two phases. First, you will journey across the realm from a third-person perspective to pick up quests and explore the wilderness. However, when you are met with conflict scenarios, the perspective will switch to tactical, turn-based combat where you will rely on your units’ strengths to emerge victoriously.

King’s Bounty II will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 24th August 2021.
