Whilst primarily received through support for the Nintendo 3DS’ StreetPass capabilities, Nintendo have confirmed that they are set to distribute Kid Icarus: Uprising weapon gems directly through SpotPass.
These can be used to unlock new weaponry within the game, either through expending gathered hearts to unlock the weapon trapped inside or by fusing them together to create an entirely new weapon.
“Good news! Now you will start receiving weapon gems via SpotPass!”, a message delivered to Kid Icarus: Uprising owners reads. “Received weapon gems can be viewed in your Gem Case. You can pay hearts to turn them into weapons directly, or fuse them together to make brand new weapons! Keep an eye out for your gem deliveries!”
