Now that Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire are out in the wild, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda was recently quizzed by Polygon as to where he sees the series headed within the next decade.

His response was expectedly to continue to “surprise and delight fans,” which we more recently saw with Pokkén Tournament, but he indicated that he already has some “big-picture ideas” about the direction in which he wishes to steer it.

“There’s probably going to be a lot more games; we might not be able to use the ‘Gotta catch ’em all’ catchphrase anymore [laughs],” Masuda began.

“Of course, we want to keep creating things that will surprise and delight fans. I don’t think that’s going to change. … I have some big-picture ideas, but I can’t really talk about them.”
