SEGA has revealed that Beat from Jet Set Radio will appear as a playable character in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, which is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.

Beat was a member of the wall-tagging anti-establishment GG’s – the rebel street gang of graffiti artists founded to fight for free expression – and now “brings his trademark flair, carefree attitude, and inline skating prowess to the world of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.”

You will be able to unlock Beat as a playable character “through normal gameplay at launch,” who sports his trademark green goggles, soundwave lenses, oversized headphones and magnetic skates.

He is “the first of several iconic guest characters,” and will collect spray paint cans rather than bananas as you conquer each stage.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania presents the chance to bounce, tilt and roll through wondrous worlds with AiAi and friends as you race to stop the monkey mad scientist Dr. Bad-Boon from blowing up Jungle Island, the developer has “lovingly re-created” more than 300 levels from Super Monkey Ball (2001), Super Monkey Ball 2 (2002) and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (2005).

Helping to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary, you can also work together in local co-op for up to four players, compete to be top banana on the online leaderboards and enjoy 12 minigames that include Monkey Racing, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Bowling, Monkey Baseball and more.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 5th October 2021.
