Iwata: Wii U to receive stronger launch line-up than Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo held a shareholder meeting in Kyoto earlier today, and Satoru Iwata, global president of the company, has stated his belief that in providing a strong launch line-up, the Wii U will see far greater commercial success than the Nintendo 3DS launch did this year.

Investors had noted concern regarding the Nintendo 3DS’ performance at retail so far this year, which Iwata acknowledged had been due to a low software output following launch. He clarified his hopes to avoid a similar situation with the Wii U when it releases next year.

Iwata was also keen to state that the Wii U would be more accepted by a hardcore audience due to its more conventional control scheme, following the more casual-orientated audience of the Wii.
