Iwata voices Wii regrets

Whilst the Wii has been an enormously successful platform for Nintendo, President and CEO of the company Satoru Iwata has revealed his regrets in not partnering with other companies to aid the console’s marketing.

“I now regret that we didn’t tie up with someone outside the company to market the Wii. If we had done that, the fate of the Wii might have been different,” Iwata stated this morning during an investors meeting, according to a Reuters report. “Now I am aware that we should not rely too much on ourselves. You will see what I mean by this when we market the 3DS and the Wii in the future.”

Despite such seemingly minor disappointment, Nintendo confirmed yesterday that it had sold 86.01 million Wii consoles since the system launched in 2006.
