ARTE, IKO and The Pixel Hunt have announced that Inua: A Story In Ice and Time will release on Nintendo Switch this week.

Inspired by the mythology of the Great North, this narrative point-and-click adventure game tells the story of three characters – Taïna, Peter and Simon – that wander its frozen lands at different times.

Separated by more than a century, their destinies are “nevertheless deeply linked to each other, and to that of Nanurluk, the Giant Polar Bear who lived 10,000 years ago.” When three humans are one day driven by ambition, they hunted and killed Nanurluk – disrupting the harmony and balance of the world.

You will be able to move from scene-to-scene and from era-to-era to instil ideas into the minds of the characters. That will let you help them to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way with your ultimate goal being to change the course of history.

Based on the Franklin expedition, a 19th Century British mission to explore the arctic that resulted in the group mysteriously disappearing.

Taking further inspiration from Inuit culture and spirituality, the game’s story follows the fate of this lost expedition and explores the relationship that Inuit communities have with the event.

“In order to ensure maximum authenticity of the story and to respect the people whose culture we are portraying, we brought in Inuit advisors and an Inuit writer,” explains executive producer Igal Kohen.

Inua: A Story In Ice and Time will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 10th February 2022.
