LEVEL-5 has shared a trailer for its hyperdimensional football RPG Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road to coincide with Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Promising to return the series to its roots, you can either choose to play through Story Mode as a new protagonist or face off against Inazuma Eleven’s past in Chronicle Mode.
The game’s Story Mode revolves around Destin Bellows (Unmei Sasanami) – “a boy who yearns for a world without soccer” – and Harper Evans (Haru Endo) – “a football monster who reigns supreme” – whose encounter marks the start of a magnificent tale.
In what is pitched as “an underdog story about overcoming hardships, growth and challenging the very strongest,” thanks to the friends that Destin makes at South Cirrus Junior High School (Nagumohara Junior High), he is able to regain his passion for football and work together to revive its neglected soccer club.
Whereas the Chronicle Mode has more than 4,500 characters from the series’ past, where, aboard the Inazuma V Caravan, you will be able to travel through time to observe all of Inazuma history. You will journey along the Chronicle Competition Routes to battle against teams of the past in Inazuma History Town, where winning matches will reward you with the characters’ Bond Stars. These can then be used to unlock new characters in the Player’s Universe, after which they will appear in Bond Alley where, after meeting the requirements of the Bond Network, they will become your ally.
LEVEL-5 has teamed up with MAPPA to produce the game’s in-game cutscenes and other animations, promising “more hours of full-blown animation than ever, elevating the story, and making it even more dramatic and enjoyable.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Story Mode: This new story takes place 25 years after the first Inazuma Eleven. In search of a world without football, protagonist Destin Billows enrolls at South Cirrus Junior High. Meanwhile, within the prestigious Raimon Junior High—renowned as the top team in the nationals—rises a “football monster” named Harper Evans. When these two cross paths, a tale begins to unfold…
- Chronicle Mode: A roster spanning over 5,200 characters from previous entries in the series! Relive past Inazuma Eleven matches with Victorio, the boy who came from the future. Take on various teams, collect and train characters, and build your ultimate dream team!
- Next-Gen Football Systems: Play the game your way, taking direct control in “Manual Mode” or guiding the team strategically with “Commander Mode!” Commander Mode lets you direct players with a variety of tactical inputs, providing an easy way for anyone to enjoy a match! - The Ultimate Anime Experience Brought to Life by MAPPA: In-game anime cutscenes were made in cooperation with animation studio MAPPA! With the longest anime runtime in the series’ history, the story’s intensity will reach new heights.
