Hulu Ends Wii U Support On February 20th

Hulu has announced that they will end support for the Hulu app on the Wii U next month, reasoning that it doesn’t allow subscribers to “enjoy the full Hulu experience.”

The ill-fated console uses the outdated Classic Hulu app, which only allows users to access the streaming library – meaning that it is missing live TV, select Premium Add-ons and other new features.

“Because we want you to enjoy the full Hulu experience, we will no longer be supporting the Hulu app on the Wii U system starting on February 20, 2019,” the company explained in an email to customers.

“The good news is that there are other ways to watch! Continue to stream your favorite shows and movies by upgrading to any of our supported devices or operating systems.

“If you would like help setting up a new device, or you have any additional questions, check out our Help Center.”

Of course, those that have picked up a Nintendo Switch can continue to access the latest Hulu app, which is available as a free download on the Nintendo eShop in the United States.

Those that subscribe can access the online streaming library that has multiple seasons for shows such as Seinfeld, South Park, Fargo and Fear the Walking Dead, exclusive original programming, popular shows, movies, kids series, and more.

Those that choose the Live TV plan will also be able to stream more than 50 top Live and On Demand channels, like FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, FX, NBCSN, FS1, History Channel and TNT, as well as live sports, regional sports networks, national news, and local news.

For those new to Hulu, it will require a subscription – with the Limited Commercials plan priced at $7.99 per month, the No Commercials plan at $11.99 per month, or the Hulu with Live TV plan at $39.99 per month. But, there’s a free trial to see whether the service is for you or not, first.
