How To Start The Crown Tundra DLC In Pokémon Sword And Shield

You may be wondering how to start The Crown Tundra DLC, now the second downloadable content to be released for the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass.

Once you have downloaded and installed software update version 1.3.0, it won’t take long for those that have bought the relevant Expansion Pass to start their adventure in the Crown Tundra.

To journey to the Crown Tundra, you will need to have reached the Wild Area for the first time in whichever game you are playing. Given that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield have now been out for seven months, this isn’t something that the majority of players will need to worry about.

If you have purchased the Expansion Pass when you load up your game you should be notified that you now have a Crown Pass. Whenever you show this to the rail staff at Wedgehurst Station, you will be able to freely travel to the Crown Tundra whenever you wish – which takes a short train ride to reach Crown Tundra Station.

Once you arrive in the Crown Tundra, a Pokémon researcher will upgrade your Pokédex – adding the Crown Tundra Pokédex – as you start to search for “a number of ancient and rare Pokémon” in the area.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
