How To Get False Swipe In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Those looking to catch as many pocket monsters as they can will want to know where to find the Technical Machine (TM) for the False Swipe move in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Once a Pokémon has learnt the Normal-type move, it will let them perform “a restrained attack that prevents the target from fainting.” The move is popular with players as it will always leave its target with at least 1 HP, meaning that its use often results in the perfect opportunity to hurl a Poké Ball in their direction to catch them.

It’s great stress relief too, especially for when you encounter a rare spawn or a Shiny Pokémon and are worried about wiping them out before you have the chance to add their tome to your Pokédex.

So, where is it? Head to the Biology Lab in Naranja Academy or Uva Academy to speak to Mr. Jacq. The Biology teacher will reveal that he created the Pokédex for the Paldea region, and will request your help to complete his research – challenging you to register different species of Pokémon to your Pokédex for him.

You will receive rewards at four milestones – 30, 100, 200 and 400 species – with the Technical Machine for False Swipe being the first that Mr. Jacq will hand you for registering 30 species to achieve the first milestone.

Once obtained, you will be able to craft more Technical Machines for False Swipe (TM 57) at the TM Machine Pokémon Center. The resources that you will require for each are 400 League Points (LP), 3 Kricketot Shells and 3 Chewtle Claws.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
