The first member of the Elite Four that you will face is Aaron, whose team is mostly made up of Bug-type Pokémon. Your best choice here is to rely on both Fire and Flying-type moves to knock out each of his Pokémon.

It is only Drapion that you will need to change your tactics for, as you will need to expose its weakness to Ground-type moves to make sure that your team doesn’t suffer too much damage from it. Earthquake, as always, would be a popular choice to consider.

When facing Bertha, it was her Quagsire and Whiscash that we had found hardest to overcome. Having chosen Piplup as our starter Pokémon, we came to rely on Technical Machines (TMs) to teach Empoleon Grass Knott – a Grass-type move – so that we could deal four times the damage to them and knock them out quickly.

Other than that, Water-type moves will easily help you keep the upper hand throughout the rest of this battle. Which was good for us, seeing as we had Empoleon to rely on.

Your third battle is against Flint, who had earlier asked you to re-energise Sunyshore City Gym Leader Volkner’s passion for battling. Now it’s his turn to show you how he earned his place in the Pokémon League as a Fire-type user.

However, he doesn’t solely rely on Fire-type Pokémon. What you will see from Flint’s team below, is that most of his Pokémon are weak to Ground-type moves. You will need to think about Fighting-type moves to counter Lopunny and others to make sure that you can knock out Drifblim with ease.

Lucian’s team are all Psychic-type, although, as you can see from the list below, their weak points differ from each other. You will want to clear his Pokémon as quickly as you can, which seems like an obvious statement to make but this isn’t a battle that you will want to drag out. Make sure to use your strongest moves, and get ready with Fire-type moves once Lucian chooses Bronzong as his next Pokémon.
