With an ever-increasing gaming backlog, you may be wondering how long it takes to beat Paper Mario: The Origami King.

From the time that we spent with the comedic adventure game to scribble down our review, it took us around 35 hours to see the moustachioed paper cut-out’s quest through to its conclusion.

It could certainly take less time than that, as we were often distracted, whether that be discovering Collectible Treasures, rescuing Toads that were turned into origami or hurling confetti to repair Not-So Bottomless Holes.

After the devious King Olly transforms Princess Peach into origami, he transports her castle to a distant mountain and seals it shut with magical paper streamers. Even Bowser’s minions have been transformed into Folded Soldiers to help King Olly in his treacherous cause.

It’s up to Mario and his new companion Olivia – King Olly’s good-natured sister – to save the day in this comedic adventure, which will once again take you to the far corners of a papercraft world.

The moustachioed hero comes equipped with new tools to help him secure victory, such as 1000-Fold Arms which let you “interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations, helping you to solve puzzles and uncover unexpected surprises.”

You will have the chance to team up with extraordinary companions and master other magical powers on your adventure to defeat the Origami King and his army of paper invaders.

The new ring-based battle system will see you “flex your puzzle-solving skills to line up scattered enemies” to maximise damage, in having the chance to attack multiple enemies at once.

Paper Mario: The Origami King is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
