Honest Game Trailers Tackles Pokémon GO

Smosh Games don their satirical hat once again, with their Honest Game Trailers series turning its attention to Pokémon GO.

Niantic’s augmented reality app may have quickly become a mobile phenomenon around the world, but it doesn’t escape some playful scorn. Positioned as a trend “that is more popular and annoying that people who take vaping seriously,” the experience blends mild cardio, Google Maps and Paper Toss.

And set in the real-world, that means that players can explore photorealistic graphics, humans as NPCs, and an unforgiving permadeath system. While removing most of the mechanics seen in the mainline Pokémon series, Pokémon GO simply retains the part where players walk back and forth in long grass until a Pokémon appears.

Colour-based gang warfare and flash mobs ensue, and Honest Game Trailers will surely at least raise a smile with the millions that have become addicted to it!
