Nintendo has announced that Mario Tennis Fever is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, news that was shared in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

Mario and his pals from the Mushroom Kingdom will once again hit the court to participate in over-the-top tennis mayhem. You will need to use topspins, slices, lobs and other familiar shots alongside fancy footwork and new defensive moves to outpace your opponents.

Keeping a rally going will let you build your Fever Gauge, which can be used to unleash powerful Fever Shots that can be augmented with special effects by equipping Fever Rackets. Whether that sees you freeze the court with the Ice Racket, summon mushrooms that shrink opponents with the Mini Mushroom Racket, or duplicate yourself with the Shadow Racket, there are 30 different Fever Rackets and 38 playable characters in the game to experiment with.

There are multiple modes, such as Tournament where the Talking Flower will offer play-by-play commentary, Trial Towers that will test your skill to complete objectives, or Mix It Up, which will challenge you to overcome matches with unexpected rules and Wonder Effects.

The story-focused Adventure mode sees Mario and friends transformed into babies after encountering monsters on a remote island. You must help them relearn their tennis skills and defeat the monsters to return to normal.

Mario Tennis Fever will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 12 February 2026.
