The Pokémon Company International and Game Freak have revealed Hisuian Voltorb will appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which is confirmed to be an Electric and Grass-type Pokémon.

“This enigmatic Pokémon has a glossy, spherical body. It looks very similar to the Poké Balls of the Hisui region, what with the wood-grain-like makeup of its body’s surface and the hole on the top of its head,” The Pokémon Company International explains.

“There seem to be countless seeds packed inside Hisuian Voltorb. Occasionally, it spouts these seeds out of the hole in its head. However, no one knows exactly what it’s like inside the Pokémon’s body, because inside the hole, it’s pitch-dark. It’s impossible to see anything even if one peers into the hole.

“This Pokémon is always in high spirits and has a friendly personality. However, it discharges its stored electricity all at once from the hole in its head when it gets excited, so it frequently shocks humans and Pokémon in its vicinity. Even the slightest provocation can set off such a discharge, so in human settlements, Hisuian Voltorb is considered a nuisance. Tales of people temporarily plugging the hole on Hisuian Voltorb’s head and kicking it out of settlements are not entirely uncommon.”

With Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the developer has looked to “deliver an experience infused with new action and RPG elements that go beyond the framework established thus far, while honouring the core gameplay of past Pokémon titles.”

As part of the Galaxy Expedition Team, you will set out on an adventure through the Hisui region – the land that eventually came to be known as the Sinnoh region. With the bustling Jubilife Village serving as your base of operations, you will leave the settlement to complete assignments and requests that will challenge you to study areas of the Hisui region.

Your first stop will be one of the base camps that will serve as an outpost for your work, and a place where you can rest during an excursion to let your Pokémon recover their health or craft items using the base camp’s workbench.

As you work towards completing the Hisui region’s first Pokédex, your rank as a member of the Galaxy Team will increase and you will have the chance to meet interesting characters and unique Pokémon that call the region home.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 28th January 2022.
