Whilst many outlets were expecting Activision to reveal the first details regarding the next instalment within the hugely successful Call of Duty franchise during their financial results briefing last night, those listening in were offered nothing but teasing promises.
In discussing the upcoming title Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, commented: “By any measure, ‘Call of Duty’ is one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we expect this year’s game will set a new standard for this incredible franchise.”
He continued, “The creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making, and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it, will reset the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of immersion, connectivity, community and, of course, epic action.”
It is to be expected to find Hirshberg trying to build hype, with the next title, heavily rumoured to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, seemingly set for a reveal at E3 Expo 2011 in June.
