Mario Kart 8 producer Hideki Konno remains hopeful that Nintendo will deliver a new entry within their F-Zero franchise.
Asked as to why Nintendo haven’t chosen to do so already, Konno responded as perhaps expected – that Mario Kart 8 was being positioned earlier in the Wii U’s lifecycle to drive the install base.
“We always have a Mario Kart per console, so we wanted to make a new entry to interest more people further in the new console,” Konno explained to Gamenesia. “But I hope that there will be a new F-Zero.”
Director Kosuke Yabuki added, “I think that you too will agree that the Mario Kart universe lends itself well to the turn-arounds and the twisting of tracks linked to anti-gravity.”
