Knights Peak and Windup Games have announced that their heartwarming third-person open-world adventure Hela is in development for Nintendo Switch 2.
This debut game from the creators behind the Unravel series is set in the beautiful northern Scandinavian nature, and tells the story of a kind Witch and her familiars – agile mice with magical abilities.
The friendly Witch has long used her magic to help the local folk, but she has now fallen ill and needs help herself. It’s up to you to set out on a quest to heal the Witch, in an adventure that combines the exploration of magical landscapes, foraging, puzzles, action and brewing.
“We’re incredibly excited to be part of the Nintendo Direct and to finally introduce Hela to a new group of fans who have long been asking if the game would come to Switch,” explains Windup Games head of studio Alexander Benitez. “Together with our publisher, Knights Peak, we feel honoured by this opportunity and truly believe Hela will be a perfect fit within the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup — a title that speaks directly to the tastes and expectations of its audience.”
Knights Peak vice president of publishing Eugenio Vitale adds: “The Nintendo Switch 2 and Hela are an ideal combination, not only because the console provides the perfect canvas for Hela’s heart-warming adventure, but the passionate Nintendo community is known for appreciating games that offer comfort and meaning – values that Hela represents. Whether playing at home or on the go, players can freely choose how they want to immerse themselves in Hela, no matter where they are.”
Hela will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in 2026.
