The Pokémon Company International has revealed a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, in which you are challenged to guess Electric-type Gym Leader Iono’s Partner Pokémon.

“The rules are easy peasy. I’m gonna describe my partner Poké pal to you, and you’ve gotta guess what Pokémon it is!” the influencer, streamer and Gym Leader explains, before offering a few hints in response to questions.

“What’s it feel like? Squishy! Squishy-squishy! Is it Magnemite? Bzzzt. Nope, these things on my head are fancy-shmancy hair clips! Cute, right? Is it fast or slow? People think it’s a li’l sluggish with an easygoin’ vibe. What’s it look like? It’s got two big ol’ bumps on its noggin that people always mistake for eyes. What type is it? ELECTRIC, of course! I’m an Electric-type Gym Leader, after all! Oh yeah, that reminds me. Its body expands and contracts to generate electricity in its belly! And best of all… IT’S SOOO CUTE! But it’s MY partner, so that’s a given, eh?”

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” You will see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether in the skies, in the sea, or on the streets.

You will start your adventure in the Paldea region, which is described as being “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges.” There are lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations, such as “a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace.” Pokémon also call treetops, rivers, and other locations in the wilderness their homes.

At the heart of the Paldea region is its largest city, Mesagoza. It is here that you will find either Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, with their name, emblem and uniforms differing depending on whether you choose to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.
The Pokédex will be loaded on your Rotom Phone as an app, as well as a map app that will let you see the entire Paldea region, your current location and information like nearby towns, Pokémon Centers and wild Pokémon.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows you to keep your entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, you will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18th November 2022.
