Atari has confirmed a release date for Gravitar: Recharged on Nintendo Switch, which is the sixth game in the Atari Recharged series.

Once again looking to transport you to the golden age of gaming, in this modernised take on the 1982 arcade classic you play as a fearless ship captain who is far from home.

Challenged to explore an abstract universe of uncharted planets and space stations which are guarded by hostile aliens, your goal is to complete missions in each Solar System before a massive black hole warps you to the next.

With all-new power-ups and special abilities, the game is set against the beat of an original soundtrack by award-winning recording artist Megan McDuffee.

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:

  • Fly from planet to planet and progress through ever-more-challenging solar systems in a quest to get home in Arcade Mode;
  • Take on 24 distinct missions, aiming to climb global leaderboards and assert yourself as the ultimate space adventurer, or connect your player two and strategize together;
  • Utilizing the tech at your disposal, make use of your tractor beam to grab power-ups including homing missiles and electrifying EMP disruptors;
  • Bop your head through groovy missions and funky galaxies with an original score by award-winning recording artist Megan McDuffee.

Gravitar: Recharged will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 2nd June 2022.
