GoldenEye 007 made a return on Wii, with Eurocom delivering a modern reimagining that saw Pierce Brosnan’s Bond replaced by Daniel Craig. However, before that was announced work had started on remastering Rare’s original Nintendo 64 version to see release on Xbox Live Arcade.

Rare Thief has uncovered a 30-minute gameplay clip that shows how much progress had been made on the unfinished remaster, with the video showing several missions like Dam, Facility, Surface, Cradle and Aztec.

As with the Perfect Dark port that has seen release on Xbox Live Arcade, this would have boasted 1080p output, 60 frames per second, improved textures, recreated characters and weapons, and rebuilt skyboxes. With GoldenEye 007 players could switch between the original and remade textures at will, which has been similarly implemented in Xbox One’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The video also presents a multiplayer overview, which sees Dam, Frigate, and Depot added as three new maps. Character heights could also be matched across the board, meaning that there would be no advantage to those that chose to play as Jaws and Oddjob like back in the day.

Display settings also allowed players to choose between 4:3, 16:10, and 16:9 screen ratios, while online leaderboards were to be added.
