Modus Games has confirmed a release date for its competitive rhythm-fighting game hybrid God of Rock on Nintendo Switch.
The mysterious God of Rock has chosen to revive the souls of the universe’s greatest musicians to clash for his entertainment. With new bodies and new powers, each musician becomes a contestant in his game and must battle it out against each other for musical supremacy.
After choosing from 12 “wildly different” characters, you will use to power of your righteous beats to blast your opposition into orbit. Engaging in matches just like in any other fighting game, the actual battle is driven by rhythm game mechanics instead.
You will need to follow the prompts scrolling across the screen to unleash attacks on your foe, with the beat picking up as the battles continue and each of your health bars wear down. Keep up with the music or your attacks will miss their mark, meaning that whoever loses their groove first will be the one who falls – with Special and Ultra attacks able to be used to take or regain control of the fight.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features as below:
- Battle to the Beat: Engage in over-the-top musical battles in this competitive rhythm-based fighter.
- Limitless Skill Ceiling: Tracks will continue to scale in difficulty until only one fighter remains.
- Over 40 Original Songs: Each with its own unique and challenging tracks to master.
- The Universe is Your Stage: Control 12 wildly different characters each with their own playstyle across 8 dynamic stages set across the universe.
God of Rock will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18th April 2023.
