Reports had circulated earlier this week that Nintendo Switch pre-orders placed with GameStop and Target in North America were being cancelled.

Each retailer has swiftly moved to refute the claims, saying that customers have no need to worry about their pre-orders and recommending that anyone that is worried reach out to their respective customer service teams.

“GameStop has not, and is not, cancelling any Nintendo Switch pre-orders due to allocation issues,” a GameStop representative explained. “We are working very closely to confirm and validate any and all pre-orders of this innovative gaming system.

“Should any customer who pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch console from GameStop experience any issue with their order, we encourage them to contact our Guest Care team so we can help resolve the issue.”

The response issued by a Target representative was similar, denying reports that the retail was cancelling pre-orders after suffering allocation issues.

“Target has not cancelled any pre-orders for Nintendo Switch due to inventory allocations,” they stated. “Customers who have questions about their Nintendo Switch pre-order should contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680.”

Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on Friday 3rd March, priced at £279.99 ($299.99).
