GameCube Controller Adapter For Nintendo Switch Delayed Into May 2019

It sounds like those wanting to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with a GameCube controller won’t be able to do so until May 2019, in Europe at least.

That’s because the GameCube Controller Adapter for Nintendo Switch has reportedly been hit with “unforeseen production issues,” although, for whatever reason, the United States is unaffected with the peripheral still in stock and currently on sale on Amazon.com, for example.

“Thank you for your recent pre-order of Nintendo GameCube Controller Adapter for Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo Official UK Store,” the retailer wrote to customers.

“We are contacting you as the GameCube Controller adapter has been postponed until May 2019 due to unforeseen production issues.

“Please rest assured that once we have a confirmed launch date we will notify you and does not impact any other Super Smash Bros. Ultimate items you may have pre-ordered at the same time.

“You do not need to do anything at this time, but if you wish to cancel your order you can do this by logging in to your Account on the Nintendo Official UK Store website.”

The immediate concern for many is how this will impact Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Limited Edition pre-orders, a bundle that has a physical copy of the game, a Super Smash Bros. Edition GameCube controller, the GameCube controller adapter and a SteelBook case.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
