Game Freak’s reason why Tembo the Badass Elephant isn’t releasing on Wii U

We were surprised when it emerged that Game Freak and SEGA’s collaborative project Tembo the Badass Elephant was skipping Nintendo’s platforms, especially considering their healthy relationship with the company.

Step in Game Freak director and character designer James Turner to share his reasoning as to precisely why, even if it’s among the more peculiar that we’ve heard.

“When I was writing the presentation documents for this game, I drew a mockup poster, and I put the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox logos at the bottom,” Turner explained to Game Reactor. “It seemed to fit, and it happened to stick that way. We thought about other hardware during development, but our hands were pretty full with those three platforms!”

As for iOS, Android and Nintendo 3DS, he added: “Information on the potential for other platforms is classified. Right now our main mission is deployment on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.”

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Tembo won’t eventually stampede toward a Wii U or 3DS release, but it’s certainly not on the cards for now at least.
