Furfrou and Meowstic are the latest Pokémon X & Y additions

Japan will know them as Torimian and Nyaonikusu, but in English these new additions to Pokémon X & Y will be named Furfrou and Meowstic.

The stylish Poodle Pokémon, Furfrou, can be groomed into a number of different appearances – the more you do so, the more that become available to you. You will be notified of Furfrou’s grooming schedule, and if left unaddressed will see it become long and shaggy. An intelligent and loyal Pokémon, it is said that it once guarded the king of the Kalos region, and can use new Fairy-type move Baby-Doll Eyes, which allows it to go move first and can lower a foe’s Attack stat.

Meowstic is a new Psychic-type that has different forms according to the gender, and is an expressionless Constraint that doesn’t show emotion. The moves Meowstic can learn will differ based on whether it’s male (above center) or female (above right).

Male Meowstic can learn the Psychic-type move Miracle Eye, allowing future moves to hit regardless of an opponent’s evasion, whereas Female Meowstic are better at outright attacks and can learn the Psychic-type move Extrasensory, which damages and can make an opponent flinch so it can’t attack that turn.
