Nintendo have revealed that download sales of packaged software will be available from the launch of Wii U.

Such news was confirmed by Satoru Iwata, who outlined Nintendo’s plans for the next financial year during an earnings briefing with investors this morning in Japan.

“For the Wii U, we will start the digital download sales of packaged software that I just discussed, so our consumers can choose either the packaged version or the digital download version of the same software from day one of the Wii U’s launch,” he explained.

Iwata also commented that Nintendo had learnt that consumers are more concerned with the quality of available software rather than the hardware itself.

As a result, Nintendo will ensure that the Wii U is supported by a rich line-up right from launch.

Nintendo also confirmed that they won’t disclose Wii U pricing at E3 2012, and that New Super Mario Bros. 2 would also be available digitally.
