The Pokémon Company has announced Pokémon Quest for Nintendo Switch and mobile, a free-to-play action RPG game set in a world where your favourite pocket monsters have been recreated in a blocky art style.

That world is called Tumblecube Island, known to be filled with hidden treasures and special items, and, with a team of up to three Pokémon, you can explore the island’s secrets.

You will have the chance to gather treasure, battle wild Pokémon and even befriend them – as long as you have the right ingredients to cook them tasty treats.

You will battle by tapping, use different Power Stones to personalise your Pokémon friends and have the chance to customise your base camp with collectibles that provide in-game benefits.

“This new Pokémon title, developed by Game Freak, lets players explore the island of Tumblecube with their team of cute, cube-shaped characters known as Pokéxel,” explains Game Freak director Shigeru Ohmori.

“Players will be able to personalise their Pokémon and develop a strong bond with their Pokémon friends while battling their way through the adventure. With the simple touch-screen controls, Pokémon Quest is a game that Pokémon fans of all ages can pick up and play.”

Pokémon Quest is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide and will release on the App Store and Google Play for mobile in late June.
