Thunderful and Image & Form Games have announced that a free software update for SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech will be made available tomorrow.
Those that complete (or have completed) the card-based role-playing game can now unlock New Game Plus. While you will need to unlock the characters again, you will carry across your non-story related progress – such as cards and items.
There is also a new Legend Remix difficulty that will only be available in New Game Plus, which is “not only more difficult but throws in a fair amount of gameplay twists of its own.”
There are other additions too such as the concept art and illustration-packed art gallery, the chance to listen to the game’s soundtrack with the jukebox, and support for HD Rumble.
And then there are gameplay tweaks: increasing stock on consumable items available in the merchant wagon; reducing the entry requirements for the “Midas Grand Prix” colosseum tournament; and balancing tweaks to numerous cards and items as well as smaller bug fixes.
With the chance to explore a hand-drawn world, in SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech you lead a party of heroic steambots in turn-based battle encounters that will see you use a handful of cards to topple your enemies. There are more than 100 unique punch cards, with which you can craft your own deck.
There are treasure chests filled with gold to discover, dragons to fell, magic, knights in shining armor and XP to earn, with the experience mixing a traditional fantasy setting with steampunk robots – packed with the usual humor.
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
