Nintendo has announced that it will release a free software update for Splatoon 3 on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 later this week.
To be pushed live on Thursday 12 June, the update (version 10.0.0) will add the Splatlands collection, which consists of new weapons from the Barazushi and Emberz brands. Based on previous weapons, the 30 new weapon kits in this collection have fresh looks with different sub and special weapons.
Urchin Underpass will also be added to the stage rotation as a selection, which is a returning stage from the original Splatoon game on Wii U.
The update will also raise all weapon Freshness caps, you can earn new in-game badges, and a new stat for Anarchy Battle (Series) will be added called Series Weapon Power. This tracks your effectiveness per weapon based on your win/loss ratio in battles. It will then match you with players of a similar power. This makes it possible for you to try new weapons without being disadvantaged and push the limits of your favourite weapons.
Those playing on Nintendo Switch 2 will also be able to “enjoy more detailed visuals and a smoother appearance in locations like Splatsville and the Grand Festival Grounds.” For those worried about such things, the trailer also confirmed that Splatoon 3 players can play together across both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Splatoon 3 is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
