Wales Interactive, Red & Black Films, and Little Jade Productions have announced that The Complex will release on Nintendo Switch.

This cinematic FMV sci-fi thriller is set after a major bio-weapon attack on London. Two scientists find themselves in a locked-down laboratory in a race against time – with their oxygen running out.

With more than 100 interactive choices, you must work to escape the lab – leading to several different endings based on your decisions and the relationships you build with other characters.

This female-driven production has been written by Lynn Renee Maxcy, who was part of the Emmy award-winning writing team for The Handmaid’s Tale.

It stars Michelle Mylett (Letterkenny, Bad Blood), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Witch), Al Weaver (Grantchester), as well as Twitch streamer and Xbox UK presenter, Leah Viathan.

“The Complex will be the first interactive movie that utilizes our innovative new scripting tool for filmmakers and writers, which was developed in-house by Wales Interactive,” explains Wales Interactive’s Richard Pring.

“We’re extremely pleased to be offering this tool to our partners and will be making a full announcement to reveal the software to the public in the near future.”

John Giwa-Amu from Red & Black Films adds: “Making an interactive film has been a dream since I first read the Choose Your Own Adventure books as a child. The Complex presents a rare opportunity to help pioneer new ways of telling stories on screen.”

And, Jade Alexander of Little Jade Productions shares: “We are excited to be bringing a cinematic experience to the games industry with The Complex, which is a female-driven genre project. We hope that this will inspire future collaborations”.

The Complex will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Q1 2020.
