Nintendo of Europe have confirmed that they will release Flipnote Studio 3D in summer as a free download through the Nintendo eShop.

This follows yesterday’s annoucement regarding the animation studio from Nintendo of Japan, the software building upon its Nintendo DS predecessor through use of three 3D layers, and an increased number of colours to use.

Budding artists will then be able to convert their Flipnote creations into AVI files, which may then be shared through the Flipnote Gallery: Friends online community service to distribute among registered friends, and the subscription-based Flipnote Gallery: World. Users will receive a free 30 day trial for the latter, with a small monthly fee required afterwards.
