Whilst we’re still awaiting a turning point for Wii U, the Nintendo 3DS is already enjoying success this year.

Nintendo of America report that during the first four months of the year, first-party software has achieved more than 2.1 million unit sales across North America.

That’s impressive in itself, but when compared to the same period last year reveals an increase of 52 percent.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon celebrated a strong month, seeing 94,000 combined physical and digital sales to reach a total of 530,000 unit sales since launch.

Such positivity can only be heightened as the year progresses, with a release slate that already includes Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Pokémon X and Y, and The Legend of Zelda.
