Thunderful and Dejima have confirmed a release date for Firegirl: Hack ’n’ Splash Rescue DX on Nintendo Switch.

This is “an overhauled and rebalanced version” that builds on last year’s original release, which offers new enemies, reworked environments, rebalanced difficulty curve, streamlined upgrade tree, improved level design and more.

“The original release of Firegirl on PC gave us invaluable feedback on how we could improve the experience significantly ahead of a console release,” explains Dejima founder Julien Ribassin. “With the completely reworked and rebalanced version of the game that is Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX, we’ve kept everything that was great about the original version and reworked the wrinkles to provide a definitive version of the game. Look forward to it on June 22nd.”

You play as a young female fire rescue officer in this roguelite platformer and must breathe new life into her rundown local fire station. Armed with your trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose which doubles up as a jetpack, you will be challenged to respond to emergency calls that will see you deal with dangerous procedurally-generated blazes that occur across the city.

You will have three minutes to save all the civilians caught in each blaze – requiring you to chop through obstacles, extinguish pyro-monsters and use your fire hose to boost your jumps to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Between missions, you will be able to hang out at the Firehouse, where you can upgrade your equipment and hire new staff to help you prepare for the next fire outbreak.

Firegirl: Hack ‘n’ Splash Rescue DX will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 22nd June 2022.
