Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ launch in the United States has been a resounding success, with the turn-based tactical RPG celebrating “the largest launch of a Fire Emblem game” in the country.

That has seen the Nintendo Switch exclusive achieve launch month sales that have tripled those achieved by the previous best-seller, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

It has instantly become the second best-selling game in the series behind Fire Emblem Awakening, although it’s likely to claim that record in the coming months.

“Fire Emblem: Three Houses was the second best-selling video game of July 2019,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella confirmed to VentureBeat.

“Fire Emblem: Three Houses represents the largest launch of a Fire Emblem game in U.S. history, with launch month sales tripling those of the previous best-seller in release month, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

“Fire Emblem: Three Houses instantly becomes the second best-selling game in franchise lifetime sales, trailing only Fire Emblem: Awakening.”

In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, there are three noble houses in the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer. These are part of the Officers Academy, which is an elite facility that trains students in the ways of weapons, magic, and special skills.

You play as a professor and must choose one of the three houses to lead their students in grid-based battles with life-or-death stakes.

The houses each have many different students to meet and train, that each has his or her own personality and skills. They will interact with each other at the academy, strengthing their bonds in a way that will see them support each other on the battlefield.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
