Those looking to return to the continent of Tellius through the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics app on Nintendo Switch 2 will likely want to know how to recruit every character in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Once again, we’re here to help.

We have broken down the recruitable characters throughout the classic strategy role-playing game, helping to make sure that you bolster your army with everyone available. Unlike more recent entries in the series, recruitment isn’t particularly complicated.

The majority of characters will be recruited automatically, some you will need to speak to with specific characters, and others will require you to read the Info section or work out what to do with the mysterious Vague Kattie space.

Recruitable Characters in Prologue: Mercenaries

  • Ike (Ranger Class): You will automatically recruit Ike at the start of the Prologue.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 1: The Battle Begins

  • Boyd (Fighter Class): You will automatically recruit Boyd at the start of Chapter 1.
  • Oscar (Lance Knight Class): You will automatically recruit Oscar at the start of Chapter 1.
  • Titania (Paladin Class): You will automatically recruit Titania at the start of Chapter 1.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 2: Rescue

  • Rhys (Priest Class): You will automatically recruit Rhys at the start of Chapter 2.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 3: Pirates Aground

  • Gatrie (Knight Class): You will automatically recruit Gatrie at the start of Chapter 3. He will leave your party, but you can get him back later in Chapter 13 by speaking to him with Astrid.
  • Marcia (Pegasus Knight Class): In Chapter 3, Marcie will appear as an NPC where you must speak to her with Ike. She returns in Chapter 9 and will automatically approach Ike, and can be recruited by speaking to her.
  • Shinon (Sniper Class): You will automatically recruit Shinon at the start of Chapter 3. After Chapter 7, he will leave your party, but you can get him back in Chapter 18 by talking to him with Rolf and then defeating him with Ike. He will then rejoin you in Chapter 19.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 4: Roadside Battle

  • Soren (Mage Class): You will automatically recruit Soren at the start of Chapter 4.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 7: Shades of Evil

  • Mia (Myrmidon Class): Mia starts the battle as an NPC. She will approach Ike and speak to him automatically, from which you can recruit her.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 8: Despair and Hope

  • Ilyana (Mage Class): Ilyana starts the battle as an enemy in the northwest. You will need to speak to her with Ike to recruit her.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 9: Gallia

  • Lethe (Beast Tribe – Cat Class): If Lethe survives Chapter 9, you will automatically recruit her at the start of Chapter 10.
  • Marcia (Pegasus Knight Class): In Chapter 3, Marcie will appear as an NPC where you must speak to her with Ike. She returns in Chapter 9 and will automatically approach Ike, and can be recruited by speaking to her.
  • Mist (Cleric Class): You will automatically recruit Mist at the start of Chapter 9.
  • Mordecai (Beast Tribe – Tiger): If Mordecai survives Chapter 9, you will automatically recruit him at the start of Chapter 10.
  • Rolf (Archer Class): You will automatically recruit Rolf at the start of Chapter 9.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 10: Prisoner Release

  • Brom (Knight Class): Ike must speak to Brom in his prison cell to the east in Chapter 10 to recruit him. He joins you in Chapter 11.
  • Kieran (Axe Knight Class): Oscar must speak to Kieran in his prison cell to the east in Chapter 10 to recruit him. He joins you in Chapter 11.
  • Nephenee (Soldier Class): Ike must talk to Nephenee in her prison cell to the north in Chapter 10 to recruit her. She joins you in Chapter 11.
  • Volke (Thief Class): You must hire Volke before the start of Chapter 10.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 11: Blood Runs Red

  • Zihark (Myrmidon Class): Lethe or Mordecai must speak to Zihark to recruit him. He can be found in the northeast of the map.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 12: A Strange Land

  • Jill (Wyvern Rider Class): Jill will automatically approach your ship. You must speak to her with Ike to recruit her.
  • Sothe (Thief Class): You must read the Info section in your base before Chapter 12 to have the chance to recruit him.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 13: A Guiding Wind

  • Astrid (Bow Knight Class): You must speak to Astrid with Ike to recruit her. It’s recommended that you do so at the earliest opportunity in the battle.
  • Gatrie (Knight Class): Make sure you speak to Gatrie with Astrid to recruit him again.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 14: Training

  • Makalov (Sword Knight Class): Makalov starts the battle as an enemy in the northwest. You will need to speak to him with Marcia to recruit him.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 15: The Feral Frontier

  • Stefan (Swordmaster Class): Stefan is a highly missable character in the game. You will need Lethe or Mordecai to stand on the Vague Katti space in the northeast of the map to make him appear, after which he will automatically join you.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 16: The Atonement

  • Devdan (Halberdier Class): Devdan starts the battle as an enemy in the northwest. You will need to speak to him with Mist, Rolf, Soren, Sothe or Tormod to recruit him.
  • Muarim (Beast Tribe – Tiger Class): You will automatically recruit Muarim at the start of Chapter 16.
  • Tormod (Mage Class): You will automatically recruit Tormod at the start of Chapter 16.

Recruitable Characters in Chapter 18: Crimea Marches

  • Janaff (Bird Tribe – Hawk Class): Accept Reyson’s offer to join you at the start of Chapter 18 to recruit Janaff as well.
  • Reyson (Bird Tribe – Heron Class): Accept Reyson’s offer to join you at the start of Chapter 18 to recruit him.
  • Shinon (Sniper Class): Remember to speak to Shinon with Rolf to then defeat him with Ike for the chance to recruit him again.
  • Tanith (Falcon Knight Class): You will automatically recruit Tanith at the start of Chapter 18.
  • Ulki (Bird Tribe – Hawk Class): Accept Reyson’s offer to join you at the start of Chapter 18 to recruit Ulki as well.

  • Tauroneo (General Class): Tauroneo starts the battle as an enemy in the south. You will need to speak to him with Ike to recruit him.

  • Haar (Wyvern Lord Class): Haar will join the battle as an enemy in the east. You will need to speak to him with Jill to recruit him.

  • Ena (Dragon Tribe – Red Class): If you successfully escape without defeating the Black Knight in Chapter 27, you will automatically recruit Ena at the start of Chapter 28.
  • Nasir (Dragon Tribe – White Class): If you defeated the Black Knight in Chapter 27, you will automatically recruit Nasir at the start of Chapter 28.

Recruitable Characters in Endgame: Repatriation

  • Giffca (Beast Tribe – Lion Class): You must choose Giffca in Chapter 29 to recruit him. You will be unable to recruit Naesala or Tibarn if you do.
  • Naesala (Bird Tribe – Raven Class): You must choose Naesala in Chapter 29 to recruit him. You will be unable to recruit Giffca or Tibarn if you do.
  • Tibarn (Bird Tribe – Hawk Class): You must choose Tibarn in Chapter 29 to recruit him. You will be unable to recruit Giffca or Naesala if you do.
