Final Fantasy XV-Related Nintendo Switch Announcement Teased

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has strongly teased that a project related to the game is in development for Nintendo Switch.

His mischievous hint came after Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition was announced for Windows 10, iOS and Android devices, an episodic game that is being targeted at casual players.

It will contain the main characters and story in Final Fantasy XV, told across ten episodes. With a cute art style that looks to appeal to mobile and existing players, it has casual touch control optimised for mobile devices.

“You asked the question what other things have we got planned in the future,” Tabata explained. “We can’t give you any complete, solid details right at the moment, but, for our policy-wise, we very much do want to move out and do as much as we can with the game and the franchise.

“There’s another certain console out there people may be thinking of. It sounds a little bit like you guys – your name, Twitch – I think we’ll just leave it there.”

Tabata has had “high expectations” for Nintendo Switch, but, back in February, had explained that “no plans for Switch at the moment, but overall, there is interest in the platform among the development team.”

Final Fantasy XV is available worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will see release on PC in 2018.
