Square Enix has announced that they have teamed up with LEVEL-5, the resulting collaboration to see a Yo-kai Watch time limited event take place in Final Fantasy XIV this summer.
That will see 13 different Yo-kai from the Nintendo 3DS exclusive appear in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, which will include poster Yo-kai Jibanyan and Whisper. While the event is running, players will have chance to earn special quest rewards such as original Yo-kai themed weapons, mounts and minions.
When Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi and Yo-kai Watch 3: Tempura see release in Japan later this year, the collaborative effort will see LEVEL-5 add new Yo-kai called Chocobonyan and Mooglenyan – which are inspired by the iconic Chocobo and Moogle creatures that have long been a part of the Final Fantasy series.
Final Fantasy XIV had been one game that Square Enix had been contemplating whether to port to Nintendo NX, with director and producer Naoki Yoshida saying that they would need to know whether Nintendo Network policies would allow for cross-platform play.
