Square Enix has released a software update for Final Fantasy VII on Nintendo Switch, correcting the music loop bug that has been present since it was originally ported to PlayStation 4.

This update, version 1.0.1, has also corrected transitions between cutscenes and gameplay, where some users had reported that the screen would flicker black.

The music loop issue, which had also previously affected Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, resulted in the background music restarting after every time you enter and conclude a battle.

That glitch is still present in the Final Fantasy IX port, but it seems likely that the publisher will now move on to address that with another software update.

Final Fantasy VII is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, priced at £12.79 ($15.99).
