Final Fantasy Explorers “Trance” feature transforms you into iconic characters

Square Enix hosted a livestream this week in which they discussed incoming Nintendo 3DS exclusive Final Fantasy Explorers.

While largely serving to show the game in action, a more significant reveal came when they discussed the “Trance” system. This ability will allow players to transform themselves into characters from past Final Fantasy games, with the first being revealed as Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife.

While the duration of their use is limited their appearance will be complete with signature BGM themes, and will allow players to temporarily strenghthen their character and pull off special attacks without consuming AP.

Final Fantasy Explorers will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS across Japan on December 18th, with no confirmation as yet to a western release.
